Making good rankings are hard. Even when one is believer in the power of statistics, using them to quantitatively order players can leave one unsatisfied. So here we are trying something new. We are going to use the Bradley-Terry model to bring to bear the wisdom of the crowd in ranking touring disc golfers. But this requires you the pro disc golf fan, to be an active participant in the ranking.

The directions are simple. You will be given 10 pairs of players randomly selected from the top-50 per Statmando and asked to pick which player will have a better 2025 season. You should define ‘better’ however you see fit. Make your choices using the dropdown menus, hit the submit button, and have a lovely day!

Answers will only be recorded after pushing the submit button. After submitting, a table with your answers should appear in the app.

The results will be compiled to produce a top-25 ranking using the Bradley-Terry model. Why this model? Well, as I mentioned before it is incredibly difficult and time consuming to produce rankings, but it is much easier to compare individuals in a one-on-one matchup. I am hoping this method takes advantage of the incredible power of the wisdom of the crowd, while minimizing the work for you – the voting individual, to produce a very good ranking.

How often will we run this poll? That is a good question. Hopefully, at the beginning and end of each season, at least.
